Wolvercote Village Hall is run and maintained by a management committee of trustees comprising representatives from the many clubs and community groups in the village of Wolvercote.
The village hall offers a large hall area; a stage, spacious fitted kitchen; a meeting room; a digital projection system; WiFi, disabled access and disabled toilet facilities and a hearing loop system
The hall is available for wedding receptions, parties, club meetings, social and community events, horticultural shows, charity events, concerts, plays and barn dances
Regular users include the Wolvercote Womens' Institute, Wolvercote Horticultural Society, Wolvercote Historical Society, local drama groups and local musicians as well as sports, yoga and dance groups. It is also the main venue for the annual Wolvercote Summer Festival.
It was one of the first community buildings in Oxfordshire to have solar photovoltaic panels to generate electricity which is used in the hall. When the building is not in use the electricity generated is sold back to the National Grid. The money raised in this fashion will be used to carry out further environmental improvements to the hall.
We have recently upgraded the hall's sound system which now has loudspeakers suitable for use by musicians and singers as well as by groups organising talks, lectures and public meetings. We have also introduced a wireless digital hub which allows easy access to the Internet within the hall for those hirers who require it. There are sockets for iPods and tablets which allow hirers to play music via the speaker system.
During the summer of 2016 we upgraded the hall's lighting to allow for more flexibility for users. The hall now has dimmable LED pendant lights replacing the old fashioned strip lighting as well as programmable colour changing LEDs which cover the walls and ceiling. The new lighting system will also use less electricity as well helping to create a more intimate atmosphere for parties and wedding receptions
We have also introduced a wireless digital hub which allows easy access to the Internet within the hall for those hirers who require it. There are sockets for iPods and tablets which allow hirers to play music via the speaker system. We have recently added Bluetooth connectivity which allo ws hirers to play audio through the sound system wirelessly.
In April 2019 we installed a digital projector. This is available to hirers at a small extra cost.
